BB$ Purchase Workaround
Are you paying too much for your BB$?
The BBO app is an easy way to play online bridge on your smartphone or tablet, but there is one thing it isn’t good for and that’s purchasing the BB$ that are used to pay for online entry fees. The reason is that the app store charges a pretty heft surcharge to pay for anything through the app, but luckily there is a work around to avoid that extra charge.
You will need to navigate to BBO on a browser; tablets and smartphones all of one of those. If you’re on an iPad or an iPhone look for Safari (the icon is a blue compass). On an Android device (for example, a Samsung phone), look for a built-in browser or Chrome (the icon is a circle red, green, blue and yellow circle).
Once you’re in the browser type www.bridgebase.com in the address bar to reach the site, if you reach a Google search result instead just click on the top link. Click the red “Play Now!” button and log in there with your BBO Username and Password just like you normally would. Once you’re logged on in the upper right-hand corner you should see a menu that looks like three white horizontal lines. When you click on the menu, you’ll see BB$ as one of the options. Clicking on that will take you to a window where you can choose to purchase BB$ which will open up another browser window that gives you the option of paying for BB$ using either your credit card or through PayPal. If you choose the “credit card” option be sure to fill in both columns of information before clicking on “Purchase”.
